Driven by federal mandates, data sharing is increasingly becoming the norm. To meet these mandates, researchers often rely on broad consent provisions to inform research participants that their data may be used in future studies, including studies that may go beyond the purpose and scope of the research for which the data was originally collected.

This webinar provides an overview of the concept of broad consent, situational and contextual examples of appropriate use, alternatives to broad consent, and ethical considerations in disclosure of secondary findings.
