Overview

Many IACUC administrators, members, and staff struggle with protocol questions and what the IACUC should consider in reviewing protocols. During this webinar, work through case studies on protocol review issues and listen to discussions of possible ways to handle these complex situations.

  • Evaluate various approaches to resolving complex protocol review issues, considering regulatory requirements and ethical implications.
  • Analyze the potential consequences of different actions in response to challenging protocol scenarios.
  • Develop strategies for collaborating effectively with stakeholders (investigators, veterinarians, other IACUC members) to optimize protocol outcomes and enhance animal welfare.

Louis DiVincenti, DVM, MS, DACLAM, DACAW

Research with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal Care National Policy Staff
Dr. DiVincenti graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and holds a master’s degree in clinical translational research from the University of Rochester. Prior to his appointment at USDA, he served in various clinical and administrative capacities in research, zoo, and private practice. Dr. DiVincenti is board certified in laboratory animal medicine and animal welfare.

Neera V. Gopee, DVM., PhD, DACLAM, DABT

Associate Director, Animal Welfare Policy, in the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) at the National Institutes of Health
Dr. Gopee earned her veterinary degree at the University of the West Indies and holds a doctoral degree in Toxicology from the University of Georgia. Prior to her appointment at OLAW, she served as a veterinary medical officer at the National Center for Toxicological Research, US Food and Drug Administration in Jefferson, Arkansas. Dr. Gopee is board certified in toxicology and laboratory animal medicine.
