Institutional Review Board Administrator Core Training
Core Training Overview
Institutional Review Board (IRB) Administrator Core Training Courses are designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the critical skills required for effective IRB administration, institutional policy development, recordkeeping, and applying regulations.
Course attendees will also have access to an exclusive platform on the PRIM&R Online Community for additional discussion and networking.
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance that documents up to 8 continuing education credit hours for their attendance. Certificates of attendance are useful for obtaining CE credits from professional associations. Each association's guidelines for accepting CE credit hours (in-person or virtual) may differ. Please consult the appropriate association representative for information on if, and how many, CE credits from this PRIM&R course may be used.

Format
Each IRB Administrator training course is offered in three 2-hour sessions that teach with a blend of didactic presentations with case studies and discussions for a practical, interactive learning experience. Opportunities for deeper learning, review, discussion, and networking with faculty and colleagues are available with the supplementary Learning Lab.
CIP Credit
Participants holding the Certified IRB Professional (CIP®) credential may apply 8 continuing education credits towards CIP recertification for attending *Course 2: Refining Key IRB Administrator Skills.
*Course 1 is not eligible for CIP credit.

Introduction to Key IRB Administrator Skills

This course expands upon foundational knowledge of an IRB administrator's role and responsibilities and focuses on honing skills essential to developing effective institutional policies, efficient recordkeeping, making exempt human subjects research determinations, and productive collaborations with IRB members, researchers, and institutional officials.

Course 2: Refining Key IRB Administrator Skills

This course prepares IRB administrators to navigate the complex issues they encounter, including managing noncompliance, unanticipated problems, the intricacies of single IRB, and addressing conflicting regulatory requirements. In addition to didactic presentations with case studies, discussions, and practical, interactive learning, this course will allow participants to explore these challenging topics and develop the skills to effectively navigate them.
What Will I Learn?
- How to manage complex IRB administration issues effectively.
- Enhanced understanding of noncompliance, unanticipated problems, and single IRB challenges.
- The ability to identify and apply multiple regulations and to address regulatory conflicts that may arise.
