Bio
Jennifer A. Klahn, MA, CPIA, is the Director, Research Safety & Animal Welfare, and Institutional Contact for Dual Use Research at UCLA. Jennifer earned her BA (Psychology) from UCLA and her MA (Psychology) from California State University, Long Beach. She worked in HIV risk reduction with “hard-to-reach” populations until beginning her career in Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee administration in 2000. Under her direction, the IACUC office at UCLA has expanded to include administrative support for the Institutional Biosafety Committee, Radiation Safety Committees, Dual Use Review Entity, and other specialized safety committees. Jennifer serves as faculty for the Interagency Collaborative Animal Research Education Project and the IACUC 101 Series, is a member of the CPIA Council and the PRIM&R conference planning committee, serves on the board of the California Biomedical Research Association, and contributes to OLAW and PRIM&R educational offerings.
When she’s not working, Jennifer enjoys running and spending time with her husband and five cats.
