Research Ethics Resources

SACHRP Committee

The Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP) provided expert advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Health and Human Services on complex issues related to the protection of human subjects in research. Its work helped shape national policies and practices to ensure ethical oversight and the safeguarding of individuals participating in research studies. Although SACHRP was officially terminated effective March 31, 2025, its legacy continues to influence the research oversight community. To support ongoing engagement with the Committee’s work and preserve access to its valuable contributions, PRIM&R is hosting this archive of publicly available SACHRP materials. By making these resources available, PRIM&R honors the Committee’s impact and continued guidance for professionals committed to advancing ethical research practices.
SACHRP Recommendations
SACHRP advisory documents reflected significant Committee effort and consensus. Once finalized, recommendations were posted online and sent to HHS leadership for consideration.
