PRIM&R Regional Research Ethics Program
Overview
Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) invites eligible organizations to apply to host a PRIM&R Regional Program—in-person regional conferences focused on advancing ethical research practices across human subjects research and animal care and use.
PRIM&R Regional Programs are collaborative, co-developed educational events that reflect PRIM&R’s mission to advance the highest ethical standards in research and medicine. Events should be inclusive, accessible, and responsive to regional needs.
The current model of the PRIM&R Regional Program consists of two educational activities:
PRIM&R Regional Programs are collaborative, co-developed educational events that reflect PRIM&R’s mission to advance the highest ethical standards in research and medicine. Events should be inclusive, accessible, and responsive to regional needs.
The current model of the PRIM&R Regional Program consists of two educational activities:
- A 1-day interactive training workshop provided by PRIM&R focused on ethical concerns and regulatory issues
- A 1-day conference covering various topics relevant to the research ecosystem at large, including the public.
Programming is designed to serve a broad research oversight audience, including IRB and IACUC professionals, investigators, compliance staff, institutional leaders, veterinarians, and researchers. Events must include a component that engages the local community in research ethics discussions.
Host institutions will assist with event and agenda development, coordination, financial management, and meeting logistics in conjunction with PRIM&R staff. PRIM&R encourages engagement from multiple institutions within a region to maximize impact. PRIM&R and host institutions can charge registration fees to recover costs associated with the events, if necessary. PRIM&R will provide a co-hosting financial contribution to support the event.
These programs are intended to be CIP- and CPIA-eligible, consistent with PRIM&R’s longstanding role as a trusted provider of gold standard research ethics education.
Purpose of the Regional Program
PRIM&R’s Regional Research Ethics Program aims to:
- Provide gold standard, accessible education on research ethics, human subjects protection, and animal care and use
- Engage regional research communities, including IRB/IACUC professionals, investigators, administrators, ethicists, researchers, and the public
- Address emerging ethical, regulatory, and operational challenges in research
- Foster collaboration, networking, and knowledge-sharing across regional institutions and disciplines
