IBCs and IRBs: Regulatory Contexts in Research

Overview

Have you wanted to expand your knowledge about the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), but perhaps been intimidated by the content and terminology? To provide the best oversight service to your institution, it is critical to develop a rapport between compliance areas. This Flash Learn will teach you where to start. In this session, we will review strategies that build an understanding about the surprising similarities and differences between IRBs and IBCs. Join PRIM&R’s Director of Programs, Ianthe “Cookie” Bryant-Gawthrop for a 30-minute discussion with examples of biosafety crossovers useful for your career.

Ianthe "Cookie" Bryant-Gawthrop, MS, CIP

PRIM&R Director of Programs
With experience in cancer research and biology, she took her skillsets to lead research compliance areas multiple leadership roles at a large research institution as the Senior Director of Research Regulatory Affairs. She now leads Programming and Education efforts for PRIM&R as an avid proponent of comprehensive research protections. Ianthe holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s degree in molecular pharmacology and is now a Ph.D. candidate in the field of higher education.
