PRIM&R and AAHRPP Deliver Joint Recommendations to White House Office of Science and Technology Policy

January 9, 2026  BOSTON — Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) and the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) submitted a coordinated response to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) regarding the future of the American scientific enterprise. The joint recommendation, submitted on December 23, 2025, addresses the OSTP’s Request for Information (RFI) titled "Accelerating the American Scientific Enterprise." Drawing on deep expertise in research ethics and human subject protections, PRIM&R and AAHRPP addressed six questions posed by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. PRIM&R and AAHRPP’s response to OSTP emphasized the critical role of ethical oversight while accelerating innovation. By aligning their recommendations, PRIM&R and AAHRPP aim to ensure that federal efforts to streamline research do not compromise the safety or rights of participants. “Our goal is to ensure that as the U.S. seeks to accelerate scientific discovery, it does so upon a foundation of integrity, accountability and ethics,” PRIM&R Executive Director Ivy Tillman said. “AAHRPP is appreciative of OSTP's invitation to provide forward-looking input on the critical issues facing the scientific research enterprise today and, as always, we were grateful for the opportunity to partner with PRIM&R to share our ideas on these topics," said Elyse Summers, JD, President and CEO of AAHRPP.
